  • The HY is located approximately 18 miles south of Ozona in southern Crockett County. The ranch is located along both sides of S.H. 163 with approximately 1,400 acres being on the east side of S.H. 163 and the balance being on the west side of S.H. 163. There is approximately 2 miles of frontage on S.H. 163 and approximately 1.5 miles of frontage on F.M. 1973.

  • The HY Ranch has been in the same family since the 1880's. The ranch is comprised of rolling limestone hills with bluffs and valleys, consistent with the southwest region of the Edwards Plateau. Brush species on the ranch consist of cedar, live oak, agarita, mountain laurel, mesquite, prickly pear and other brush species native to the area. Brush density throughout most of the ranch is considered moderate to heavy. The ranch is all native pasture. Elevations on the ranch vary from from approximately 2,000 feet above sea level to approximately 2,400 feet above sea level. Johnson Draw traverses the very western portion of the ranch providing deeper clay loam soils and intermittent holes of water during rainy years.
  • Water on the ranch is provided by 3 water wells. One well is equipped with a windmill and provides water to the western part of the ranch. The other two wells are equipped with electric submersible pumps and provide water to the central portion of the ranch and the east portion of the ranch. Water is considered typical for the area.
  • The ranch has a nice headquarters complex with a 3 bedroom/ 2 bathroom house constructed of two older ranch homes that were joined. The house is wood frame with stucco siding and a pier and beam foundation. The house is surrounded by large pecan trees. In addition, there is a garage with an attached office and a 2 bedroom/ 1 bath hunters cabin. Behind the headquarters is a set of steel livestock pens with a metal barn on a concrete slab. Water to the house is provided by a water well that is equipped with an electric submersible pump that also services the hunters cabin and pens.
  • The ranch provides good hunting for white-tailed deer, turkey and hogs.
